What is a Contract Baseline Schedule?
Once you’re awarded the job, the Contract Baseline Schedule becomes the official, signed-off programme both you and the client measure performance against for the life of the contract. It’s the schedule equivalent of the contract price — everything downstream (progress claims, EOT claims, delay analysis, KPI reporting) gets measured against this baseline, regardless of whether the project is a mine site earthworks package, an offshore brownfields tie-in, a water treatment plant upgrade, or a commercial development.
Why it matters
Getting the baseline wrong — or rushing it through without proper logic and float distribution — creates problems that surface months later, usually at the worst possible time (during a dispute or an EOT claim). A baseline needs defensible logic: correct predecessor/successor relationships, appropriate constraint use, resource loading that reflects your actual mobilisation plan, and a data date that matches contract commencement.

When to order one
Immediately following contract award, before mobilisation. Clients across mining, oil & gas, utilities and commercial construction typically require baseline submission and approval within a fixed window (commonly 14-28 days) after contract execution — we work to those timeframes.
