What is a "Current vs Baseline" schedule?
A direct comparison between where your project actually is now (Current) and where you planned to be (Baseline) at contract award. It’s the clearest, hardest evidence of whether the project is ahead, on track, or behind.
Why it matters
This comparison is the foundation of almost every schedule conversation with a client — progress meetings, monthly reports, and (if things go wrong) delay and EOT discussions all start from a current-vs-baseline view. Getting this right requires the baseline to have been properly preserved and the current schedule to be updated with disciplined, defensible logic — not just dates pushed out to match where the site “feels” like it’s at.
