What is an Updated Target Schedule?
A refreshed forecast schedule reflecting actual progress and current conditions, replacing outdated assumptions from the original baseline while preserving the baseline itself for comparison purposes.
Why it matters
Projects change. Scope grows, sequencing shifts, site or field conditions surface. An updated target schedule gives you and your client a realistic forecast to manage the remaining work by, without losing the original baseline as your contractual reference point — the two need to coexist, not replace each other.

When to use it
Periodically through the project, particularly after a major scope change, or when progress has diverged enough from baseline that the baseline is no longer a useful forecasting tool (even though it remains the contractual reference).
